Slatwall panels are a design feature in a part of your house is something that just about nobody would even consider. To take that a step further, I would suggest that most people wouldn’t even know what slatwall panels are.

Slatwall panels are the special walls that are used by many stores as a means for holding display hardware such as hooks, hangers, shelves and the like. They are wall panels that contain grooves that have been cut into them in horizontal lines. These grooves are then used to hold specially constructed accessories such as hooks and shelves. The benefit is that you only have to screw the wall itself in, after that you can add or remove the hardware as your needs change.

So how is this going to be useful in the home?

The garage or workshop would benefit enormously from this kind of set up. You can store all of your nails, screws, bolts and nuts in small plastic containers clipped into the wall. You can hang your tools on the wall where they are out of the way and unlikely to be damaged.

Larger items such as bicycles, surfboards and leaf blowers can be stored by simply hanging them up out of the way. The space savings would be huge and the rooms that you use them in would become much more organized, not to mention a whole lot neater.

Some people might not think that slatwall panels would look suitable in the family home, but there is a large range of different colours and sizes and, in the right sort of room I’m sure this sort of wall would fit right in.

It’s certainly an option that is worth considering, particularly if you’re finding yourself running out of space or if you have a room that you can simply never get tidy enough.
